Tender description

The NTA, as the competent authority for the purposes of Regulation 1370/2007, is proposing, in accordance with Regulations 1370/2007 and 2338/2016 and applicable national legislation, to directly award a public service contract to Irish Rail for the provision of public passenger transport services by rail with a commencement date of 1.12.2019, following the expiry of the current direct award contract on 30.11.2019. It is envisaged that the direct award contract will be for 10 years from 1.12.2019. The routes contained in the direct award contract are set out in detail at https://www.nationaltransport.ie/public-transport-services/public-service-obligation-contracts The maximum annual market volume is currently in the order of 16 000 000 train kilometres. This notice constitutes advance notification to the market, in accordance with the provisions of Article 7(2) of Regulation 1370/2007, of the Authority’s intention to award a direct award contract in accordance with the provisions of Regulation 1370/2007.
