Tender description

The project involves the design, development and construction of provision of a 21 class base primary school with two multi-purpose halls, a nurture suite, separate dining hall, chair store, school meals kitchen and stores. The project further involves the design, development and construction of a double nursery unit including a school meals servery. In addition to construction of the primary school and nursery school buildings, there will be associated site works, a playground and attendant car parking provision. The economic operator is to note that the current school building will remain in active occupation throughout construction of the new primary school, and that following single phase construction of that new primary school building, a decant period will precede the demolition of the old school buildings, installation of car-parking and construction of the new double nursery unit. In addition to construction of the primary school and nursery school buildings, there will be associated site works, a playground and attendant car parking provision. Mechanical and electrical sub-contract works will be required, to include: — cold water and hot water distribution and storage, — heating and ventilation, — general and emergency lighting, — Building Management System (BMS), — fire alarm, — CCTV; IT, — lightning protection and — intruder alarm. Further, and with regards to the BREEAM requirement noted below, the mechanical sub-contract works include solar hot water panel and photovoltaic panel provision. The new primary school and nursery buildings shall be required to achieve a BREEAM rating of “Excellent”. The contract period is expected to be 25 months; it is anticipated that substantive works on site will begin April 2017.
