The operation of the Woolwich Free Ferry (WFF) is a TfL statutory duty. Within TfL, responsibility for managing the operation of the Woolwich Ferry is delegated to London River Services Ltd (LRSL). TfL are running a market engagement exercise in order to inform future plans for the running of the service. Historically the service has operated with three vessels which are in the process of being replaced by 2 new hybrid low emission vessels. The contract will cover the operation of passenger and vehicle transport services and the maintenance of the 2 new ferries and associated infrastructure as well as lease of the land and property from LRSL.
