Tender description
Wigan and Leigh Housing began a pilot scheme in 2005/6 to replace the most uneconomical boilers in Wigan Council’s housing stock of around 20,800 Gas heated properties. Starting with the oldest “G” Rated boilers (“G” being the most uneconomical and “A” being the most efficient). Note: A large number of our boilers are now becoming obsolete and parts becoming unavailable for us to repair a boiler. Following completion of the pilot scheme a tender was produced to continue the programme to start to replace all the obsolete boilers and uneconomical “G” rated down to “B” rated boilers that are 15 years and older on a rolling programme over the coming years until all our housing stock (with gas boilers) have been replace with “A” rated condensing boilers to ensure our tenants have the most efficient boiler installed; giving them a potential saving in energy bills. As the previous tender has expired we wish to continue the boiler replacement programme for Wigan Council housing stock.
