Tender description

The Council’s long term aspiration is to “create high quality sustainable woodlands that meet the needs of the people and the natural environment”. Betty’s Wood makes up a portion of the larger Bell Bank Wood which is contained within the St Ives Estate to the west of Bingley. A stand of mainly larch plus other conifer species was planted in the 1940s making up what became affectionately known as Betty’s Wood. However, in 2017 the larch and sweet chestnut was felled following an outbreak of Phytophthora ramorum and the issuing of a Statutory Plant Health Notice. Restocking is a condition of the felling licence issued as part of EWGS case ref. 36627. Keywords: Trees, Woodland, Restocking, Planting
