Tender description

The Operations division of Huntingdonshire District Council is responsible for the delivery of refuse and recycling, street cleansing and grounds maintenance services. Over 130 full time operatives are employed by the Operations Division to deliver these services. On occasions other divisions within the Council may use this contract for the provision of suitable staff for similar roles, e.g. leisure Street Cleansing Operatives will be responsible for the removal and disposal of litter, detritus, general arisings, vegetable material and larger items as directed or required. To use a range of hand tools and mechanical equipment as directed, including undertaking regular maintenance and safety checks as required. To empty and re line a range of litter and waste containers and bins as required. Undertake playground safety inspections and complete relevant paperwork as required. Carry out daily maintenance and checks on the allocated vehicle and reporting any defects. Loaders will be responsible for acting as a Refuse / Recycling loader, to load waste onto the collection vehicle in accordance with safe working practices. The collection of all forms of domestic and commercial refuse and / or recycling from any location as directed in wheeled bins, bags, boxes or other suitable containers. The delivery of new sacks as directed. Assisting when required with vehicle manoeuvring both during collection operations and at the point of vehicle discharge and following instructions given by the refuse driver.
