Tender description

This project is to deliver the Client designed replacement of the life expired Number 1 linkspan at Oban Ferry Terminal. The proposed works, will require a principal Contractor to manage the production of the steel structure and fit out with the specified Mechanical and Electrical items. Design work has been carried out utilising a 3D model and has followed Building Infrastructure Modelling (BIM) principles. Resulting in a 3D model and Common Data Environment ready for project delivery through BIM. This project provides a unique opportunity to develop skills in 3D modelling and gain experience delivering a project through BIM. It is not mandatory that Tenderers shall have previous experience utilising BIM, as up-skilling/development is included within this project. CMAL0191 Prior Information Notice (PIN) For Proposed Infrastructure Works at Oban Ferry Terminal. This notice is being issued by Caledonian Maritime Assets Limited (CMAL). This project is to deliver the Client designed replacement of the life expired Number 1 linkspan at Oban Ferry Terminal. The proposed works, will require a principal Contractor to manage the production of the steel structure and fit out with the specified Mechanical and Electrical items. The proposed works, likely to total in the region of GBP 1 000 000 to GBP 1 400 000 UK Pounds Sterling (subject to approval of funding), will include the following elements: Linkspan replacement: — fabrication of new linkspan structure and transport to a location near Oban, — provision of hydraulic cylinders and fit out, — installation of client provided pump set, — installation of hydraulic and electrical pipe/cable runs, — test of system prior to installation, — decommissioning and removal of existing linkspan, — installation and commissioning of new linkspan, — operational range and load testing of new linkspan. It is anticipated that construction procurement will commence in early spring 2018. The Works will include: — fabrication of new linkspan structure and transport to a location near Oban, — provision of hydraulic cylinders and fit out, — installation of client provided pumpset, — installation of hydraulic and electrical pipe/cable runs, — test of Hydraulic and Electrical systems prior to installation, — decommissioning and removal of existing linkspan, — installation and commissioning of new linkspan, — operational range and load testing of new linkspan. A supplier information event is planned for the first week in March following the ESPD or tender issue. The Contracting Authorities will discuss the scope of the proposed works. There will be an opportunity for prospective suppliers to ask questions or make suggestions in relation to the procurement processes both during the presentation and afterwards in direct discussion with representatives from the Contracting Authorities.
