Tender description

Construction of a new Children’s Hospital on the Royal Hospitals site, Belfast. The new hospital will be circa 52 000 sq.m. and will include 12 floors of accommodation including basement areas for services and receipt and distribution, 10 floors of clinical accommodation, and roof top plant areas. The works will also include the upgrade of elements of the existing site wide engineering infrastructure which serves the Royal Hospitals site. Construction is due to commence in July 2020 for approximately 36 months. For clarity it should be noted that this Notice is primarily in relation to the procurement of construction works. A consultant design team was appointed to the project in July 2014, with a contract which extends through the construction and handover phases of the project. The new Hospital will include a wide variety of clinical accommodation, including the following departments: — Emergency Department, — Imaging, — Pharmacy and Aeseptic Suite, — Theatres, — Paediatric Intensive Care, — Outpatients, — Programmed Treatment Unit, — Therapies and Wards. These clinical areas will be supplemented by support accommodation such as offices, catering facilities, storage, engineering services and plant. The works will also include the upgrade of elements of the existing site wide engineering infrastructure which serves the Royal Hospitals site. Site works will include areas of landscaping and alterations to the existing road network within the Royal Hospitals site. Construction is due to commence in July 2020.
