Demolition, site preparation and clearance work

Tender description

Coventry City Council are seeking a Contractor to demolish the 14 Storey Coventry Point Building in Coventry City Centre. The works will include the decommissioning, soft strip and demolition of the tower blocks connected by a glass walkway, as well as the 3 storey high red brick plinth building to the east of the site, formerly home to a snooker club and a number of other tenants. Following the completion of the demolition works a simple landscaping scheme is to be implemented to the site of the former building to allow pedestrian access. Planning consent for the demolition works was granted in May 2018. It is proposed that the works are split into 2 elements due to the city centre location and restrictions on the site. This is proposed to be a 'soft strip' and 'main demolition' stages undertaken by the Contractor with the soft strip out undertaken first.
