Further education offer for teachers. Competence for quality. The strategy for further education for teachers and school managers up until 2025 forms the frameworks for the national commitment to further education for teachers. The strategy is developed in a cooperation between KS, the employee organisations, the teacher training centres and the Ministry of Education and Research. Specialist teacher education. Competent teachers who would like career development with new challenges often disappear out of the classroom. Some go into school administration, others disappear from the school altogether. The government would like to keep hold of good teachers in the classroom, so that they can contribute to more learning for pupils. Further education offer for teachers. Competence for quality. The strategy for further education for teachers and school managers up until 2025 forms the frameworks for the national commitment to further education for teachers. The strategy is developed in a cooperation between KS, the employee organisations, the teacher training centres and the Ministry of Education and Research. Further education for teachers and school managers will be a permanent commitment, so that planning further education in schools and the development of offers at universities and university colleges can be included in the annual routines in the long term. The strategy provides predictable frameworks for the commitment to further education for teachers, with sufficient room for ensuring flexibility. The strategy is based on a ten year course to ensure deeper understanding in subjects that have new competence requirements. The target group for the further education offer for teachers is teachers in primary and secondary schools and sixth form education, teachers who teach adults at these levels and teachers in arts schools. Based on this, the Directorate for Education and Training has, in accordance with the strategy 'Lærerløftet — På lag for kunnskapsskolen', held a pilot of new career paths for teachers in the form of specialist teachers. The aim is to give development options to teachers who would like new challenges and professional further development, at the same time that they continue to work in the classroom. Specialists in schools will, amongst other things, be competent in subjects and subject didactics, guidance and school development. In this way they can contribute to collective knowledge development in the school within their subject area. The target group for specialist teacher education is teachers with 60 study points in their specialisation subject/subject area.
