Summary of the work The specialist will work on the migration of the current website to a user validated Wordpress instance. In addition to migrating existing content they will also produce a range of Wordpress plugins, templates and widgets for custom post types. The work produced will form the beta version of the website. Specialist role Developer Expected Contract Length 2 months, with the option to extend for a further month. Latest start date Friday 17 August 2018 Maximum Day Rate £300 Early Market Engagement Summary of the discovery findings/recommendations - Continue to have and improve a dedicated GEP website - Take the opportunity to better demonstrate the impact of the Programme - Reorganise the website structure to better guide users through their journeys - Hold back from introducing a dedicated Teaching (resource) section - Group content around healthcare specialism collections - Progressively reveal content to cater for the range of genomics knowledge and awareness - Introduce a dedicated Education section - Further develop structured content - Introduce a site-wide search - Improve the mobile experience - Move away from PDFs for HTML appropriate content Who Speclialist Work With The specialist will work with the GEP Web & Multimedia Manager, key stakeholders and the user research agency to understand and deliver development priorities for the migration of our current website to a single Wordpress instance. The specialist will be the sole developer skilled at the creation of Wordpress websites including the creation of custom content types, custom taxonomy structures, custom meta boxes and widgets within a customised child theme aligned to the HEE brand. What Specialists Work On Liaising closely with the Web & Multimedia Manager, the specialist will be required to convert user validated prototypes and wireframe mockups to a working Wordpress website. The specialist will need to create plugins for custom post types with their own custom meta boxes, taxonomy, views and widgets all themed to the latest HEE branding guidelines. The specialist will ensure that all work produced meets the needs of internal and external stakeholders of the GEP. The specialist will work closely with key members of the user research team to understand and implement prioritised needs. Skills & Experience • Minimum 3 years in a professional Wordpress development role • Evidence of contribution to the Wordpress community, e.g. via support, code or plugins • Strong experience of frontend UI development via frameworks like Bootstrap • Strong experience of child theme development and optimisation • Demonstrable experience of Wordpress plugin and custom post types development • Ability to take ownership of the entire development lifecycle, i.e. development and testing through to deployment • Ability to present and communicate technical solutions to a technical and non-technical audience • Strong experience of working in cloud based infrastructure such as Azure or AWS Nice to Haves • Experience of working closely with service users to fully understand their needs • Core Azure experience (Web Apps, SQL Azure) • Experience of integrating Google Tag Manager Work Location Birmingham, with the option to work remotely for some of the development work. Working Arrangments - The specialist will work in our office in Birmingham for approximately 3 days per week in order to be close to key users of the applications. - We would like the specialist to work a 5 day week. - We would be happy for the specialist to work remotely for some of the development work. - This role is outwith IR35. The rate for this is very low. Realistically, you will need to pay the specialist slightly more perhaps than the displayed charge rate. And that's before any margin etc. Can this be reviewed?
