Tender description

West Midlands Combined Authority are pleased to announce a procurement opportunity for the provision of Third Generation Trams for use on the Midland Metro light rail network and on extensions thereto. Previously, Midland Metro has been supplied with a First Generation Tram Fleet ("1GT") and more recently with a Second Generation Tram Fleet ("2GT"). This procurement will source a Third Generation Tram ("3GT") with Options for Tram Maintenance Services. This opportunity will be tendered in stages, with suppliers shortlisted via a Standard Selection Questionnaire (SSQ) process with the 4 highest scoring suppliers being shortlisted to the Invitation to Negotiate (ITN) stage. The Utilities Contracts Regulations 2016 require WMCA to take account of the need to ensure adequate competition in determining the number of Prospective Bidders to be pre-qualified to the next stage of the tender process. The provision of trams to the West Midlands Combined Authority / Midland Metro to support both existing tramline and future enhancements / extensions.
