Tender description

The School of Engineering at Newcastle University invites bids to join a Dynamic Purchasing System it is establishing for the provision of gear and lubricant testing equipment, chemical reactors for energy research and railway bogie testing chambers and equipment. There will be 6 equipment Lots on this DPS: 1) Back to back testing equipment; 2) Chemical Reactors for Energy; 3) Excess heat recovery and utilisation systems; 4) Energy conversion equipment; 5) Environmental monitoring chambers for railway bogies; 6) Railway braking systems based on Linear Induction Motor technology Suppliers must indicate which Lots they are applying for in this initial DPS Round. This DPS will be for a 3 year period. More detail can be found in the DPS Invitation document which can be found by registering your interest and accessing the the DPS event, which can be done at: https://procontract.duenorth.com/Login Design, procure and build of a 91,5 mm standard back to back test rig for gear and lubricant performance and wear testing. Equipment will be procured as and when required throughout the life of the DPS. Design and build of pressurised chemical reactor vessels which can be adapted internally to enable differing chemical reactions to be created and monitored. Equipment will be procured as and when required throughout the life of the DPS. Design and build of advanced excess heat recovery and utilisation systems (based on advanced thermo-fluids) for industrial, residential and transportation applications. Equipment will be procured as and when required throughout the life of the DPS. Design and build of advanced and highly novel energy conversion (including storage) devices which exploit high efficiency thermodynamic cycles. Equipment will be procured as and when required throughout the life of the DPS. Design and construction of environmental chambers to allow for the testing of different designs of railway bogies and rolling stock in different temperature and humidity environments. Equipment will be procured as and when required throughout the life of the DPS. Design and fabrication of test rigs and prototypes to allow for the testing and technology demonstration of various iterations of a LIM braking system. Integration of sensing and measuring equipment as well as assessment of test results. Equipment will be procured as and when required throughout the life of the DPS.
