Cavan County Council is seeking to purchase houses &/or land for Social Housing purposes in County Cavan. The acquisition of Land and/or the purchase of completed houses are exempt from procurement rules (Section10 of SI 284-2016 E U (Award of Public Authority Contracts) Regulations 2016. Proposals are invited for the supply of development sites or completed housing schemes that are fit for purpose for Social Housing in towns and villages in County Cavan . Schemes should have a minimum size of 5 and up to 40 dwellings depending on location (smaller numbers may be considered) & comply with the conditions of Planning Permission, Local Authority Development Plan & the Housing Guidelines issued by the Department of Housing, planning, Community & Local Government. No submission to be greater than €5million. Cavan County Council intends to accept & approve at least one submission for each location where there is a significant social housing demand & reserves the right to consider suitable submissions for areas that have lower demand subject to the other selection criteria to deal with the issue of low numbers of applicants in areas where there is a perception that no social housing will become available. Once the proposals have been assessed & are deemed acceptable they will be ranked according to the selection criteria. The preferred proposal(s) will be submitted to the Department of Housing, Planning, Community and Local Government to ensure that they are supportive of the proposal(s) in principle. If confirmation of this is received, a more detailed submission is then required & the Applicant should be aware that they will be required to provide further information at this stage e.g. plans, cost information to allow fair comparison with other submissions, standard financial & insurance information etc. The full approval process may take several months from initial submission to order/contract however the Department of Housing, Planning, Community and Local Government.
