Tender description

An on-street dockless bike share scheme with app controlled access. Bournemouth and Poole wish to partner with a bike share operator to reduce traffic congestion and encourage a cheap, healthy and environmentally friendly form of transport. A dockless scheme is required. This will be app-based, enabling customers to easily access and unlock bicycles using a smartphone. This removes the need for docking stations and gives far greater flexibility for users as they are not restricted to a limited number of pick up /drop off points. The scheme will be provided commercially by the operator at no initial or ongoing cost to the local authority. The scheme will provide an income stream for the councils. The potential operator must be fully accredited with the Bikeplus scheme which provides an agreed industry standard.
