Portsmouth City Council (the Council) is inviting expressions of interest from suitably experienced contractors to carry out the delivery of the expansion of Portsmouth Academy School. The costs of the works are estimated at 4 500 000 GBP. The target date for award of contract is November 2018 with works commencement following in January 2019 and completion by August 2020. The council may, at its sole discretion, also invite tenders from the shortlisted 5 - 6 contractors in respect of further educational works projects up till the end of 2020. The value of work let via the shortlist may equate to a total value of 30 000 000 GBP, however the council can provide no guarantee of works values and reserves the right to exceed this value to meet business needs. Application is via completion and submission of a project specific Supplier Status Questionnaire (SSQ) which can be obtained from the council's inTend e-sourcing solution. The SSQ must be completed and returned by 20.7.2018 (14:00). The scope of works can be summarised as follows: 1) construction of a three storey steel framed building of approximately 1 500 m2 gross internal floor area, 2) alteration and refurbishment works to the existing school to provide a new student support suite and specialist classroom areas, 3) associated external works, 4) provision of a 2 classrooms temporary classroom unit for part duration of the contract period. The existing school will remain in use during the period of the works and it is therefore a requirement that contractors are able to demonstrate experience of working within an occupied school site environment on projects of similar value. The procurement programme is as follows: — SSQ issued - 5.6.2018, — deadline for requests for clarification - 13.7.2018 at 23:59, — SSQ submission deadline - 20.7.2018 at 14:00, — invitation to tender issued - 20.8.2018, — tender return deadline - 28.9.2018, — notification of preferred bidder - 29.10.2018, — standstill end - 9.11.2018, — contract award - 12.11.2018. In addition to the works at Portsmouth Academy School the Council may, at its sole discretion, also invite tenders from the shortlisted 5 - 6 contractors in respect of further educational works projects up till the end of 2020.
