Tender description

The City Centre Ambassador Service is a scheme that will significantly improve the visitor experience and considerably enhance the city centre offer. The service will provide an on-street concierge service focusing on 3 main areas that are: — Welcoming City. — Safer City. — Cleaner City. The service will provide a flexible service of up to 35 hours per week across 7 days a week, including evening work; subject to change due to seasonal trends and external funding. 1) Welcome and provide information to shoppers and tourists including directions. 2) Respond to incidents and accidents. 3) Keep a watchful eye over the public realm areas of the city centre. 4) Provide information and directions. 5) Promoting events. 6) Supporting the needs of businesses. 7) Monitor noise levels of Buskers, the likely impact on passers-by and retailing units/offices and potential noise nuisance or/and illegal street trading (selling of goods, cd's etc.). 8) Build community spirit through social events. 9) Engage where appropriate with rough sleepers to ensure the person is signposted to the Oxford Street Population Outreach Team and other relevant services available to them. 10) Assist in preventing street crime by offering high visibility patrols. 11) Assist with stewarding city centre events. 12) Carry out daily environmental audits city centre streets. 13) Other duties will include responding to and reporting incidents as a professional witness of: 14) Ensuring any person distributing free printed matter has the required license and correct number of badges. 15) Breeches identified under the city centre’s Public Spaces Protection Order.
