To ensure Derby City Council has suitable temporary accommodation at any time in an emergency in which to place families who are homeless. This will be done by creating a framework of providers across Derby and the immediate region able to respond and offer accommodation at short notice. The statutory service will be delivered to persons placed appropriate to their need as assessed by the council and is administered by the council's arms length management organisation Derby Homes. The service users could take the form of a single person, a couple or a family type. The service will be delivered in the form of a provision of a room /bed and breakfast for the period of time agreed between the council and service provider.
