N4 Collooney to Castlebaldwin Road Development Detailed Ground Investigation Contract

Tender description

Detailed ground investigation works will be undertaken along the National Road N4 from the N4/N17 Toberbride Roundabout to the south side of Castlebaldwin Village (14.71 km approximately) in County Sligo. The ground investigation will extend over the entire length of the proposed road development. Where the existing road is to be widened at the north end of the scheme the majority of the site investigation points will be carried out adjacent to the existing road, although some slit trenches will be required across the road pavement. Along the rest of the scheme the proposed road development will cross greenfield sites and the investigation points will be largely carried out on undulating agricultural land or uncultivated wetland areas and bogs. The works will involve the drilling of cable percussion, rotary core boreholes (inclusive of Geobore S rotary core boreholes excavation of trial pits and deep trial pits, excavation of slit trenches, DPH dynamic probes, cone penetration testing, in-situ testing, laboratory testing, production of a factual report and geophysical investigations which shall include continuous 2D MASW profiles, 2D Resistivity survey profiles and 2D Seismic Refraction surveys. The role of PSCS shall be carried out by an independent Health and Safety Consultant. Tenderers should note that other works will be undertaken at the same time as the ground investigation contract. These include archaeological investigation, advanced fencing, electricity service diversions, demolition works and topographical survey.
