Learning from Low-Cost, Low Carbon Homes (LoCoLoCO2)

Tender description

This contract is for the study of construction of LoCoLoCO2 buildings in order to understand: - The drivers, barriers, attitudes and challenges through the various stages of construction, from specification and design, through construction and supply chain, to hand-over and occupancy. - The costs and cost drivers associated with construction. - The actual energy performance of these homes when occupied and the reasons behind this performance. The evidence will be used to support the case for policy to support low-carbon building construction and an understanding of the art of the possible to inform future emissions reductions plans. Also allow BEIS to gain an understanding of how to apply, to retrofit projects, an integrated approach to design, processes, measures and technologies, as opposed to the sequential approach taken to typically retrofit existing housing stock.
