Tender description

Network Rail wishes to deploy a high performing, free, public WiFi across 15 of our managed stations (plus additional stations which are added through the contract life). The supplier is expected to fund (fully or in part), design, test, implement, deploy, manage, monitor, maintain and update the service and infrastructure throughout the life of the contract. Network Rails passengers have cited free, public, WiFi as their number one priority in our stations. Network Rail wishes to meet and exceed their requirements now and into the future by delivering a great station WiFi experience that allows people the ability to connect and download on-the-go. All of this will be delivered over a high performance infrastructure that will grow and develop into the future. Network Rail has 6 key objectives to achieve: 1. Meet and exceed passenger and visitors requirement for free, public, WiFi connectivity in managed stations (their top requirement in National Passenger Survey — Priorities for Improvement October 2014 as rapidly as possible); 2. Do this by delivering and supporting a high performance, world class WiFi service in major UK managed stations which provide an outstanding customer experience measured through Customer Satisfaction surveys. 3. Improve passengers and visitors time in managed stations by providing: a) targeted and relevant content and information; b) travel information; c) child friendly content and internet access; d) services for diverse groups including step-free access for wheelchairs; e) tailored and relevant station retailer offers. 4. Generate new channels and sources of income from the WiFi service and infrastructure, such as mobile digital WiFi advertising, to help fund the railway and compliment Network Rails digital advertising screens and exhibitions and promotions channels. 5. Enable Network Rails Digital Landlord vision of providing digital services to its station tenant’s premises and generating new sources of income for Network Rail. 6. Assist the Government in its long term objectives of a connected rail sector Term of Contract is 15 years. The supplier is expected to fund (fully or in part), design, test, implement, deploy, manage, monitor, maintain and update the service and infrastructure throughout the life of the contract. It is expected to be at least cost neutral to Network Rail.
