Tender description

Web design, front-end development (FED) and consultancy services for Sheffield Hallam University. The University wants to work in partnership with a company to support the building of its in-house capability as well as providing digital design work and FED. The web strategy, as part of the overall technology strategy, supports the University in achieving its digital goals through the web presence becoming the 'go-to' resource for staff, students and external audiences. In an increasingly digital world, the focus needs to be on the customer experience and the website is key to this engagement. The website is crucial to delivering key marketing department objectives across multiple markets which includes; customer data capture, marketing key University products, communication of the University brand experience and engagement with key audiences and stakeholders. The design and build of engaging, functional customer facing online interfaces is essential to delivering these objectives. The size of the University's web presence is proportional to the size of the organisation, as detailed above. The University has heavily invested in Sitecore in terms of infrastructure, resource and budget in order to deliver a digital solution that meets the University strategic objectives. This digital platform is an integral part of the Applications Strategy and digital roadmap — it is the key platform in a technical landscape that also includes Drupal and WordPress. Required outcomes. Design. — The design of web designs and solutions that deliver to key website objectives and performance KPIs. — The documentation of a web design system that can be used across the organisation. Offering a standardised approach to web design and ability for multiple teams to use across the University's web estate. Sustainable development. — The ability through the company to front-end code digital solutions that support the delivery of key website projects. — The application of agreed coding standards across the University web estate so we have a standardized approach to the creation and deployment of front end code. — To support the creation of development processes that offer a sustainable and systematic approach to website development across multiple platforms. Performance management. — Improved performance of the University web estate through the application of coding standards and practices. — Improved web design through the monitoring of set user engagement KPIs through platform and 3rd party analytics. — Working with multiple internal and 3rd party suppliers to deliver multiple web design and development projects to key timeframes on the digital roadmap. — Improved web design through the monitoring of set user engagement KPIs through platform and 3rd party analytics. Training. — To support the organisation to become self-sufficient with regards to the use of web design and development. Out of scope. — Back end development — this area is handled internally by our Digital Technology Systems Department. — Project management — this part of the service is handled internally by the Planning Department. — Hosting — this area is handled internally by our Digital Technology Systems Department. The work we are asking you to price is only a proportion of the total activity that is possibly required. However, we are advising you of our budget for the initial period of this contract, but we equally advise you that we are under no obligation to spend any value should we choose not to. The anticipated budget is between 60 000 GBP and 80 000 GBP per annum.
