Tender description

The existing contracts for the operation and maintenance of Luas, Dublin's light rail system, expire in Q4 2019. NTA and TII will be tendering for a new Operations and Maintenance (O&M) contract for Luas in 2017. NTA and TII will be seeking expressions of interest from organisations, including any company or consortium, that can demonstrate the necessary financial strength and technical capability to be considered for the award of the Luas O&M contract. To express an interest and receive further information regarding a proposed market awareness day at TII's offices in Dublin on 5.4.2017, interested organisations should register by email at LuasO&M@tii.ie. NB. It is not sufficient simply to register interest in this notice on etender.gov.ie. NTA is an independent statutory body responsible for securing the provision of public transport passenger services including light rail services. TII is an independent statutory body responsible for the provision of light rail infrastructure. TII owns the Luas infrastructure and rolling stock, and manages the Luas operating contract under assignment from NTA. An extension to the Luas system is currently under construction and is scheduled to open in Dec 2017. The system will then comprise 43km of track, 3 depots and 73 light rail vehicles, and is expected to carry 42 million passenger journeys in 2018. Further expansion of the system is anticipated over the period of the new O&M contract. It is anticipated that the Luas O&M Contract will commence in Q4 2019 for a period of six years, with an option to extend by up to a further five years. The scope of the O&M Contract will include operations, maintenance of the Luas infrastructure and maintenance of the light rail vehicles.
