Tender description

The use of text messaging has been identified as a way of reducing the cost of communicating with our customers however a text messaging solution is not intended as a replacement for our existing communication channels. The solution will be used alongside existing channels where it is deemed appropriate. Some service areas have already made use of text messaging on an ad hoc basis in the past however the Council expects the need for text messaging to grow so a decision has been made to procure a corporate solution. Business areas where potential usage has already been identified include: • Adult education course marketing; • Bin collection reminders; • Book reservation reminders; • Building control site inspection appointment reminders; • Contact between managers and remote workers; • Council tax reminders; • Major incident; • Parking permit renewal reminders; • School admission reminders and notification; • School closures; • Severe weather warnings; • Social care charges payment due reminders; • Traffic alerts; and • Welfare Rights appointment reminders.
