Tender description
Birmingham City Council are inviting suitably qualified and experienced organisations to express an interest for the provision of service packages in care homes with and without nursing for persons under the age of 65 with care and support (supported living). This includes 2 lots: LOT 1 - Care homes with nursing and care homes without nursing LOT 2 - Care and support (supported living) Flexible Contracting Arrangements shall commence on 1 April 2018 and shall automatically expire on 31 March 2021 without the need for either party to give notice, unless terminated earlier in accordance with its terms. The flexible contracting arrangements may be extended for 2 further periods after 31 March 2021 of up to 12 months each by the Council giving the provider 3 months prior written notice, of its intention to extend the flexible contracting arrangements. Care homes with nursing homes regulated and registered by the Care Quality Commission, to provide the same help and assistance with personal care as those without nursing care but they also have professional registered nurses and experienced care assistants in constant attendance that can provide 24-hour nursing care services for more complex health needs. These homes are for people who have been assessed as requiring a health care professional (nurse) delivering elements of care. Care homes without nursing homes regulated and registered by the Care Quality Commission where people live either short, temporary or long-term. The homes provide help and assistance with personal care, continence management, food and diet and simple treatments. 'Supported living' is the name for services (including housing), designed to help people to stay living independently within their local community. Supported living has no legal definition but has a commonly accepted set of principles that are defined in the reach standards in supported living.
