Tender description

The procurement of the operation of ‘Registered Local Bus services’ in the Sunderland, South Tyneside and Gateshead local authority areas of the Tyne and Wear boundary with effect from 19 May 2018. It is anticipated that subsequent contracts will be for a term of 1 year, with an option of extending each contract for up to 1 year should this be necessary. The contracts will be tendered on the basis of operating specified timetables. The vehicles required will be ‘easy access’ Taxibuses meeting the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Acts with a minimum capacity of 6. To meet the legal requirements, the successful tenderer must be in possession of a ‘Special Restricted Operators Licence’ and a Hackney Carriage or Private Hire licence from the area in which the tendered service operates at least eight weeks prior to the required date of registration of the service with the Traffic Commissioner to allow for timely registration.
