Tender description

BAS (Bereavement and Aftercare Support) is the Army focus for the support of bereaved families. BAS is responsible for the training of CNOs and VOs, the aftercare support not just of families, but also of the CNO, VO and those who work in emotional and stressful environments. This tender exercise will be split into 2 lots. The full description of both lots can be found in the attached documents. Provision of Soft Skills Training, Counselling and Listening Support. The Bereavement and Aftercare Support (BAS) Team is the Army focus for the support of bereaved families and is based in Ramilies Building, Marlborough Lines, Andover, SP11 8HJ. BAS work closely with the Regional Points of Command (RPoC), who manage and control both the Casualty Notification Officers (CNO) and Visiting Officers (VO). BAS is responsible for the training of the CNOS's and VOs, and for the aftercare support not just of the families, but also of the CNO, VO and those who work in emotional and stressful environments. The SOR contains further aspects of BAS' responsibilities which are then described in further detail. Lot 2 -Provision of actors for role play to support the training of visiting officers. The Army Personnel Services Group (APSG) are responsible for training Visiting Officers (VOs) to support Army bereaved families, the courses are delivered at the Armed Forces Chaplaincy Centre (AFCC), Amport House, and in various other locations. The courses are designed to prepare students for the appointment of being a VO, by giving them the understanding of reactions to loss and bereavement in order to develop their confidence. Courses cater for a maximum of 35 students, drawn from regular and reserve Army units, and last for three days, with the third day being devoted to Role Play with professional actors. The role play is based on five syndicates of seven students each, and uses 20 pre-written scenarios, issued by the Authority, spread between three female and two male actors on each course of 35 students – this requirement will vary if there are fewer students on the course.
