Why the Work is Being Done The DACC requires platform expertise within an emerging DEVOPS environment in order to support on-going services as well as develop and migrate services to a new hosting platform. The goal is to produce cutting edge services for our business partners within the Home Office. Problem to Be Solved The DACC is a data centric team which supports ETL functions in order to build and maintain services for Home Office partners. Both the tooling and data processing aspects are critical components for the DACC. You will be required to develop and maintain services within a DevOps environment. The Home Office has determined that it requires a supplier to provide this DevOps support, with a view to bringing this support in-house in the future. The DevOps service is to ensure that the services are available to users during their standard working hours. Who Are the Users Internally you will directly engage Developers, Technical Architects, Infrastructure Engineers, DBA’s, Delivery and Product Managers. Users are from various Home Office departments however mainly Immigration Enforcement who require data to support immigration case decisions. The data supplied is required to be available 24 x 7 to users around the country. Early Market Engagement Work Already Done The service has been running for over two years and is in the process of migration from on-premises private data centre to the public cloud. There is ongoing development work across all the DACC services Existing Team Various workstreams work with the Home Office Business delivering solutions in data Search, Enrichment and Assurance Scoring. Developing DevOps services will help deliver new products into live and support an expanding BAU service. Current Phase Beta Work Location Work will be carried out from a Home Office location primarily in Croydon Working Arrangments The supplier will be required to collaboratively work on site (5 days per week for stakeholder engagement). Expenses outside the M25 will be payable in accordance with the Home Office expenses policy.. Candidates should be prepared to utilise their own company laptop which may be needed to undertake some duties on a secure basis. Security Clearance All staff must hold or be prepared to undergo SC Security Clearance to operate in this unit. Additional T&Cs • Statements of work will be agreed periodically with the supplier on a fixed price, capped, or T&M basis with agreed deliverables. • Standard DOS framework and call-off terms and conditions. Skills & Experience Full Stack Engineering with comprehensive experience of Continuous Integration and Continuous Development for developing applications (Git, Jenkins, Drone, Artifactory and Ansible/Tower). Full Stack Engineering with working experience of containerisation (Docker/ Kubernetes). Full Stack Engineering with knowledge of tech stack including: Linux, AWS, Puppet, Shell/ Bash, Python, Web Servers (NGINX) Full Stack Engineering with working experience of networking, security and encryption (TCP/IP, Load Balancing, DNS, Firewalls, SSL/ TLS/ VPNs & protective monitoring technologies) DB Administration with developer and maintenance experience of Mongo, Postgres/Greenplum, Hadoop. DB Administration with experience of backup and recovery of databases DB Administration with active performance monitoring and tuning DB Administration with experience of storage and capacity planning DB Administration with experience design of databases on prem or in Cloud DB Administration and Full Stack Engineering with comprehensive working experience in Agile development multi-supplier and multi-service delivery DB Administration and Full Stack Engineering with comprehensive working experience in delivering migration services into data centres / Public Cloud DB Administration and Full Stack Engineering with comprehensive working experience in managing, maintaining, monitoring and optimising solutions in Public Cloud environments, especially during onboarding DB Administration and Full Stack Engineering with comprehensive working experience in deploying services end-2-end utilising the full suite of automated tools for requirements, testing through to continuous integration, continuous delivery.
