SOG-EDU-T-Provision of Consultancy Support for a Digital Roadmap for Education

Tender description

The States of Guernsey currently provides Information Technology services to 19 schools, including St Anne’s in Alderney. A system known as GILE (Guernsey Integrated Learning Environment) was delivered in 2012 as a network of technology systems and is supported by an outsourced service provider with an ongoing contract. Since the implementation of GILE, a conscious move to cloud-based technologies, software as a service, Chrome devices and leveraging the huge increase in learner’s personal devices, has shifted the focus of customer need. A new landscape is emerging, with learner storage and applications ‘outsourced’ to GSuite (formerly known as Google for Education), for all bar a limited number of specialist software applications. Teachers’ own IT requirements are becoming more closely aligned with centrally-provided services, potentially enabling them to be merged with the back-office systems used by the Civil Service, eliminating duplication and reducing ongoing costs. The States has identified ten core workstreams designed to build a statement of requirements which will reflect the changing educational landscape, based upon rationalizing and maximizing impact of the future model of investment in the school technical estate.
