Tender description
Isle of Wight NHS Trust and Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust, through NHS South of England Procurement Services (SoEPS), are seeking information from companies able to provide patient bedside entertainment and clinical information solutions. The solution may also need to include the provision for some non-patient services in waiting rooms and similar. The Trusts are currently considering three alternative approaches, broadly defined as: 1. A WiFi solution with portable devices loaned to patients purely for entertainment or personal communication with no clinical information functionality; 2. Fixed screens for patient use to access live TV and internet services, again with no clinical information functionality; 3. Fixed screens for patient use as above, but to also include functionality for clinicians to access patient records and other clinical applications whilst at the patient's bedside. Clinicians and Trust staff would need to be able to access all Trust systems from these devices and not just the individual patient's records. At this stage the Trusts have no preference for how such services are to be provided, but all alternatives should allow for patients and visitors to also use their own devices to access the internet for entertainment or communication purposes through the Trusts' public and patient WiFi current and future capability. The Trusts seek your views for this requirement and ask a number of set questions below. Please try to respond to as many as you can as your views are valuable whether or not you have come across all of the aspects covered. This is a process designed to help the Trusts establish the type of solutions available, form a view of the most suitable approach for each Trust and secure a realistic budget provision. It is not the beginning of a Tender exercise — a further Tender advertisement will be issued at the appropriate time as required. Any future Tender exercise may be carried out on behalf of either or both Trust/s but in the case of a joint Invitation to Tender each Trust will evaluate and award its own contract and Bidders may submit a tender response for either or both Trusts. Your feedback at this point will not have a bearing on any future Tender submissions you may wish to offer at a later date. You will not be disadvantaged if you choose not to respond to this RFI but it will be helpful to understand your views at this early stage, so you are encouraged to respond as fully as you can. By responding to this RFI the Trusts will also be made aware of your interest in a future tender and can ensure that you are notified directly when this is issued.
