Upgrade of Boundary Walls and Associated Works

Engagement of contractor to upgrade two boundary walls. Cragg Burial Ground is a protected structure and all works and repairs are subject to licensing by The National Monuments Service and all excavation works will be undertaken under the supervision and monitoring by the appointed project archaeologist. The burial ground is elevated by approximately 2m along its Southern boundary and portion of the retaining stone wall has recently collapsed into the adjacent small stream. The proposed works include part replacement and part reinforcing of the existing stone wall. In addition to the protection of the protected burial ground on a temporary basis in the course of the works, the adjacent stream will also need protection during the construction. The proposed works are required and proposed in order to provide permanently safe wall structure to the burial ground and the work will also include associated site works include drainage, fencing, guard rails and protecting and restoring the general environment of both the burial ground and the adjacent stream.
