Tender description

The collection and treatment of road sweepings including leaves. Cheshire West and Chester Council is responsible for the mechanical sweeping of streets in the Borough. The materials that are collected by this process, as listed by the EA from the web link below include — grit, sand, silt, salt (for example from salt spreading), broken glass, water, leaves and other vegetation, small dead animals, oil, heavy metals, diesel and other hydrocarbons from vehicle exhausts (for example from road traffic accidents). This material has the European Waste Catalogue (EWC) classification of 20-03-03 ‘street-cleaning residues. Once treated the material usually has a code of 19-12-12. The Council would like to procure in line with the specific and detailed guidance provided by the Environment Agency (EA), the recovery of street cleansing residue and leaves.
