Tender description

Purchase of upgrade and extension to existing Fluidigm Helios Mass Cytometer system which is capable of making in excess of 30 unique direct phenotypic measurements per cell in high-throughput manner. The Helios is capable of using unique detection chemistry of antibodies tagged to ‘rare earth metals’ functioning as a hybrid between a conventional flow cytometer and a time of flight mass spectrometer. It is capable of measuring 40+ parameters on a large number of single cells. Advancement in technology has resulted in the development of an add-on module to the Helios called Hyperion which provides the capability to make 40+ directed measurements using the same detection chemistry on a tissue section. Conventional fluorescence-based methods for imaging tissue cannot achieve such high parameter measurements without cyclical staining, imaging, bleaching and re-staining. Purchase of upgrade and extension to existing Fluidigm Helios Mass Cytometer system.
