Tender description
In order to protect British Library premises and assist its operations several technical systems are available to the library. 1 of such system is 2-way analogue radio system, which is installed and operating independently in British Library both sites (London St Pancras and Boston Spa). On both sites this system has reached its end of life expectancy and Library wishes to upgrade the system to digital mobile radio (DMR). The British Library has several safety and security systems to protect its premises along with running its every day operations. The Library has 2 separate sites to provide its services and these are located in A) London — St Pancras West Yorkshire — Boston Spa. 1 of the safety and security systems that the Library extensively uses is its life safety radio system. This system is an analogue Radio system and after many years of usage, it has reached its end of life. The successful tenderer will be expected to deliver following requirements: 1) Provide a detail design of the new life safety radio system based on the specifications provided. 2) Supply and install the Digital Mobile Radio repeaters as necessary and connect them to the existing cabling or to the new IP network where the Library wishes to extend the radio network. 3) Assist the Library in purchasing additional licenses from Ofcom. 4) Supply and configure hand held radio devices and other base units to replace the analogue handsets. 5) Maintain the analogue system fully operational in parallel during the digital system upgrade works until the digital system is fully installed and ready to operate. Once this is achieved disconnect the analogue system and decommission the equipment, redundant cables completely. 6) Decommission the pager system and integrate the Telephone, fire alarm systems in to DMR system to assist emergency evacuation procedures. 7) Provide corrective maintenance to clear the faults generated on the analogue system to during the upgrade works. 8) Provide relevant training, handover documents, and functional asset list. The successful supplier must demonstrate an appropriate skill set, proven track record of service delivery and provide excellent value for money.
