Tender description

The Council is appointing a supplier for the Bournemouth Beach Management, Groyne Building Programme 2017/19. The Scope of Works to be carried out in this Contract is summarised but is not limited to the following: — Construction of 12 (twelve) timber groynes with all timber to be supplied by Bournemouth Borough Council. — Careful dismantling and deconstruction (not demolition) of 12 (twelve) existing timber groynes in the vicinity of the proposed new groynes. All timber to be legibly marked, safely recovered and stacked at the Solent Beach car park — Dismantling and recovery of circa 850 m aluminium handrailing on the promenade — Complying with duties as Principal Contractor under CDM (2015). The contract may be further modified during the life of the contract, in line with the Public Contract Regulations 2015 Clause 72 to include further construction and deconstruction of additional groynes. Bournemouth Borough Council is appointing a contractor to construct an employer designed scheme comprising of the construction 12 new timber groynes and the deconstruction of 12 existing timber groynes. The construction works are part of a long-term project to renew coastal defences at the Bournemouth seafront and will provide ongoing coastal protection of assets and property from coastal erosion and damage. Due to the exposed nature of the site, the Contractor must ensure that sufficient resources are available to him at all times in order that he can complete the Works by the completion date using safe and reliable methods, experienced resources and effective management procedures. The contract has been awarded on the value of the tendered sum. However, the contract may be further modified during the life of the contract, in line with the Public Contract Regulations 2015 Clause 72 to include further construction and deconstruction of additional groynes.
