Tender description

South Moor Community Sustainable Drainage Scheme (SuDS): Pine, Poplar and Elm Streets, South Moor, County Durham. The Water Hub is based out of Durham University and brings together initial partners from private sector innovation, public sector organisations, academia, practitioners and citizens to develop more efficient and effective products and services, which will translate to new, better, and easier experiences for everyone working in our regional water sector. The ambition is to enable the region to come together to build and maintain a vibrant, technology-driven water economy that influences positive change in the way we protect human health and the environment. The Water Hub is part funded through an ERDF 3 year grant. Sustainable Urban Drainage has become an integral part of housing regeneration and development across County Durham. All new housing schemes are required to integrate SUD principals, products and systems in housing drainage design and development. There is a significant opportunity for product development in this market. Increasingly retrofitting SUDS systems and water efficiency products in areas of high density housing with flood risk is also becoming a priority in Durham. This large scale housing water retrofit agenda links well to Durham's already well established and developed energy efficiency retrofit programmes currently funded through the national Energy Company Obligation scheme. South Moor and neighbouring communities have benefited from the ECO programme and work is currently planned to extend this energy retrofit programme into the target SUD area and across other areas of terraced housing in Durham. There is a significant opportunity to make linkages between domestic energy efficiency and water efficiency in South Moor and across Durham both in terms of innovative products and systems but also digital control and monitoring technology giving householders remote digital control information about their water and energy usage. Soft market testing documentations are available via the Council's E-tendering system from 6.10.2017. Organisations can register electronically for the documents via http://www.nepoportal.org — access the suppliers are, select Durham and input DN302131.
