Tender description
The Contractor shall carry out detailed design, manufacture, deliver and install (including all required testing, verification and documentation) of the Active Cells Storage Pit Lids. The Contractor will be required to complete the detailed design of the Storage Pit Lids, to achieve the dimensions and tolerances defined by the UKAEA. The Storage Pit Lids consist of approximately 20 concrete sections totalling 400 tonnes and to be installed circa 2018 at ESS facility, currently under construction to the north east of Lund (Sweden). For drawings please refer to http://www.race.ukaea.uk/call-for/storage-pit-lids For this requirement UKAEA would like to understand the following requirements. The current strategy for the pit lids is to design in house and have the contractor build to print with the Contractor's design responsibility being the detailing of the rebar, steel cladding, and concrete pouring. When responding please provide the following information Based on previous experience please confirm if tolerances of ±3 mm are achievable with concrete casting To achieve the tolerances defined, what would be the recommended method of manufacture? Have you previous experience of installation of such pit lids or supply and delivery only, please provide examples of other similar projects Please outline budget cost estimates for the work covering detailed design, manufacture, delivery to site, and installation The attached drawing should provide some context for the size of an individual section, the attached images should provide context to the quantity of pit lid sections required. there'll be a total of 20 concrete sections required with 10 unique components totalling approximately 400 Tonnes of concrete (magnadense 8s). For a 45 year service life what would be recommended to maintain edge protection and contamination control on the pit lids. (eg painting, stainless steel cladding, thicker steel cladding, angle plate at edges. Note that touch up painting would not be possible). Responses are required by 12:00 Thursday 12.10.2017.
