East Staffordshire Borough Council is inviting tenders from organisations wishing to enter into a contract with the Authority for the provision of Market Services Management. The proposed Contract is for an initial period of five (5) years with the option to extend for up to a further five (5) years. Burton Market is in the centre of Burton-upon-Trent and includes both an indoor Market Hall and an outdoor market adjacent to the Market Hall. Following a 1 500 000 GBP Authority-funded redevelopment, the indoor Market Hall re-opened its doors to the public on 21.6.2014. The Market Hall is a beautiful Victorian building that has been renovated with sympathy to preserve its historic character. The Market Hall is a beautiful Victorian building that has been renovated with sympathy to preserve its historic character. There are 29 ‘fixed’ shop units situated around the outside of the Market Hall which can be used by several types of retailer including food and beverage. They vary in size and appearance and are currently available on annual lease terms of 1, 3, 5 or 7 years. Pop-up stalls are currently available on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays on a casual daily hire basis — these are located within the middle of the Market Hall. They have a floor size of 9 m.sq per gazebo stall. The demountable stalls allow for multi-use of the hall, with a variety of activities taking place. Current activities include specialist markets, concerts, sporting events and car boot sales. It is also used for the town's annual Christmas Lights switch on event. The outdoor market currently takes place on Thursday to Saturday adjacent to the indoor Market Hall within 35 traditional slot bar stalls.
