Summary of the work To help establish user research that results in clear guidance and support for the development teams to implement usable systems for internal and external users. Support the near term demand for User Experience Activity from the Digital Transformation Programme and assist peers in fostering a UX community inside the organisation. Specialist role User researcher Expected Contract Length 6 Months Latest start date Friday 15 September 2017 Who Speclialist Work With Work immediately with the project team, Product owner, Business analyst, scrum master, developers and stakeholders for the project. Work with the UX team, UX researchers and UI designer. Work with any third parties involved e.g. Scottish Government, agencies. What Specialists Work On 1.Help to establish user research that results in clear guidance and support for the development teams 2.Use a variety of user research methods to reveal actionable insights 3.Create customer journeys 4.Create low fidelity prototypes using the Ros pattern library 5.Be involved in establishing clear design principles that internal and third-party delivery teams 6.Delivering research feedback to Agile delivery teams to compliment sprint cycles 7.Where required, work as part of a multi-disciplined team to design user focussed and successful services 8.Support the UX community within the IT department 9.Build relationships and working effectively with external parties Skills & Experience • Have a variety of different research methods • Have analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to develop recommendations based on quantitative and qualitative evidence. Please could you provide the maximum day rate? Registers of Scotland do not provide a maximum rate and expect suppliers to submit according to market rate. 2. Please could you advise IR35 status? The intermediaries legislations does not apply to this engagement. 3. Can you confirm the daily rate for this role please? Registers of Scotland do not provide a day rate and expect suppliers to submit according to market rate. 4. The rate will be inclusive or exclusive of VAT? This rate will exclude VAT 5. Any chances of change in start date as the latest date mentioned is 15th september RoS are willing to consider a different start date, please specify this date when suitable. 6. Will you be sponsoring the security clearance (BPSS)? RoS will not be sponsoring the security clearance. 7. Is there any travel involved in this role and will the travel expenses be paid? There may be limited travel to our Glasgow office. In this instance RoS would pay for train tickets between our Edinburgh and Glasgow offices. 8. Would you consider work permit holders (e.g. Tier 2 General Visa) and EU passport holders for this role? Yes 9. Could you please confirm the phase of work the project is currently in? For example is the User Researcher going to be initially carrying out Discovery and are they expected to support any GDS assessments and gateways. This depends what project the successful candidate will go into. We have a number of teams, all in different stages. It is likely that they will need to support GDS assessments. If the particular project does not go through GDS assessments, they will go through a less formal internal assessment, so would still need to support that. 10. Is occasional remote working allowed? Remote working will be possible for this role however this would be at the managers discretion.
