Tender description

The purpose of this exercise is to inform Translink of developments in the corporate clothing market, to identify potential suppliers, relevant technology development, innovations, contracting strategies, types of contracts in use and future market developments. There is a unionised environment operating in 20 main depots throughout Northern Ireland ranging in size from 1 staff to 264 staff, with a central maintenance facility in Belfast with 106 staff. Currently Translink issue structured garments and workwear to approximately 3 500 staff across 20 depots. Issue cycle frequencies are 18 months. Staff numbers comprise the following categories: Bus Drivers: 1 827 — Structured Garments. Train Divers / Conductors: 388 — Structured Garments. Bus and Train Maintenance Staff: 767 — Workwear. Permanent Way and Infrastructure staff: 209 — Workwear. Clerical Staff: 263 — Structured Garments. This notice is to initiate an early market engagement exercise. It does not indicate the start of any formal procurement exercise. Separate specific procurement exercises will be advertised at the appropriate point in the future. Translink takes no responsibility for any actions or decisions taken, costs incurred or commitments made by parties in responding to this notice or by being involved in any subsequent discussions relating to this early market engagement exercise. All parties agree that the matters discussed between them during the course of this early market engagement exercise will remain confidential to those particular parties. It is anticipated that engagements will take place in Belfast during September 2017.
