Appointment of a Commercial Advisor for Kirkgate Market

Leeds City Council is seeking to determine the potential level of interest and the capability of potential providers to provide advice as follows: a) Advise how the current mix of tenants in the Market and, events in the 1976 market hall can be improved to increase the attractiveness of the Market to a wider customer base, including the provision of additional quality food and beverage offer across the Market as a whole to complement the existing fresh food offer. b) Inform the development of a strategy to further promote Kirkgate Market for the benefit of existing traders and to attract new traders and customers to the Market. c) With regard to comparable retail opportunities/markets, assess and advise as to what the approach to charges and rents should be for the different types of business and size of stall in the different market halls. d) Pending redevelopment, advise as to the potential for short term lets of vacant shop units on George Street. e) To present proposals for the letting and management of the events space in the Covered Daily Market in order to maximise activity and vibrancy complimentary to the Market’s core business.
