Tender description

Who Speclialist Work With The designer will primarily work within the Marine Information Transformation (MINT) programme who are working with leading edge big data technologies such as Hadoop, Nifi, Spark and Hive. The team is building a data reservoir to store, manage and refine data received from sources around the globe. The system will be used by subject matter experts in the UKHO but they are not experts in the technology and so in order that we gain true benefits from the system we need interaction to be intuitive, flexible and predominantly self-service. What Specialists Work On Firstly, work with 2 agile development teams and user researchers to deliver new and improve existing user experiences, interactions and visual design, working through entire project lifecycle from initial idea generation, site maps, sketches, storyboards, process flows, user flows and wireframes to deliver visually rich, simple and easy-to-use experiences. Secondly, work with the Head of Technology Production Engineering to guide the UKHO UI/UX strategy within an agile environment in terms of best practices, lessons learnt, job descriptions and team integration. Where the Work Takes Place Taunton, Somerset Early Market Engagement Working Arrangements Working onsite as part of an agile delivery team, 5 Days per week - Monday-Friday Work Location Taunton, Somerset Security Clearance All staff must be SC cleared. We will ask bidders for details of key personnel, if successful the bidder will be asked for confirmation of security clearance or we will initiate clearance process Additional T&Cs Skills & Experience ability to understand user needs and design services that meet them ability to design user-centred interfaces and transaction flows ability to create and iterate prototypes to test and communicate ideas ability to work with user researchers and front-end developers to turn concepts into user-centred services know how to interpret user research know how to design accessible, secure, responsive user interfaces ability to develop design briefs by using UX tools and gathering information by conducting all types of user research; interviews, surveys, click-monitoring ability to conduct and design tests, analysing the results and integrating these changes into the design process be able to work quickly in an agile environment be able to explain ideas in a way that other people understand understand how form and function work together know how to remove complexity from services have a basic understanding of typography explain design decisions and be able to represent a service at a service assessment put forward a case for design with a product owner engage the whole multidisciplinary team with the design process experience of working in agile Scrum teams Nice to Haves experience of leading a UI/UX practice No. of Specialists to Evaluate 3 Cultural Fit Criteria work well in a collaborative agile team be able to constructively review the work of others welcome the constructive criticism of your work Assessment Method Evaluation Weighting Technical competence 50% Cultural fit 20% Price 30% Questions from Suppliers Budget range £350 (role is expected to be inside ir35)
