Tender description

The Oxford Advanced Skills (OAS) Training Facility will be located at the Culham Science Centre in Abingdon, Oxfordshire. This will enable Oxfordshire businesses to offer people engineering apprenticeships of the highest quality and provide training in a work place environment. The OAS Training Centre is being delivered in two phases. Phase 1 is already operational in an existing UKAEA facility; this project covers Phase 2, the delivery of a new dedicated training facility. OAS Phase 2 is the long-term vision to establish a new build flagship facility. The new OAS training centre will provide 125 highly skilled technicians per annum. Phase 2 is required to be ready for the first intake of apprentices in September 2019. — The phase 2 project will be managed by UKAEA in collaboration with STFC. Early engagement is required to ensure the new OAS building meets the training provider specification. — OAS will provide employer-led training in the context of a work-place environment using the new apprenticeship standards. — OAS will deliver a core engineering syllabus along with specialist employer-led training modules. — OAS will train apprentices at intermediate, advanced and higher levels. — OAS will deliver high tech / work-ready apprentices to the local supply chain to support growth in the UK economy and to resolve the critical skills shortage and ageing workforce issues. The Prior Information Notice is being issued to notify interested companies that UKAEA will shortly be issuing a Contract Notice for the provision of an OAS Training Provider for Phase 2. This training provider will deliver training on behalf of OAS and utilise their specialist knowledge to help with set-up and operation of the facility. The contract duration will be for an initial period of 10 years with an option for a further 5 years.
