Newcastle University are looking for a Research Partner to supplement research and training programmes in the Agri-Food arena with a specific focus on the following areas: 1. Agri-diagnostics and bio-security — to develop precision approaches and smart surveillance systems help protect agriculture and the natural environment from pests and pathogens. 2. Agri-food production and protection — improving the productivity and health of our crops and livestock. 3. Food safety and nutrition — ensuring our food and feed is safe and nutritious and that our supply chains are resilient. To enhance the research conducted by Newcastle University it is envisage that the research partner will ‘fill the gap’ between current ‘blue sky’ research and the functional requirements of International Agri-Food stakeholders (for example farmers, food producers, policy makers, consumers, etc.) and will mirror the multi-disciplinary capability of Newcastle University. The research partner should have a track record in translating research from academia to end-users, particularly through TRL (technology readiness level) 4-6, across the whole food supply chain.
