Tender description

This opportunity is for the delivery of the Highway Gully Cleansing Service. This service will include the cleansing of gullies and associated pipework and highway drainage infrastructure and assistance with the provision of an emergency response in reaction to flooding events (including the delivery and placement of sandbags) all to be carried out on the highway network within the area of the Wokingham Borough Council. The purpose of this procurement process is to appoint a Contractor to deliver the following services: — The cyclical cleansing of approximately 29 000 gullies each year (approximately 7 000 of which will be cleaned twice a year; i.e. on a 6-monthly basis). — The cyclical cleansing of approximately 4 500 m of combined kerb and drainage system (‘Beany Blocks’ and the like). — Occasional assistance during extreme flooding emergencies including the provision of the contractor's jetting facilities and the delivery and off-loading of sandbags. Through this procurement process the Council is seeking to appoint a Contractor capable of working to develop and promote innovation and excellence in delivering high quality services to the community. This work comprises of: a) cleansing and clearing of gullies and associated pipework and highway drainage infrastructure; b) reporting where works cannot be successfully undertaken; c) provision of asset data in a digital format comprising confirmation of asset location, condition and silt levels prior to cleansing, confirmation that cleansing has satisfactorily taken place; d) provision of a 2-hour emergency response in reaction to flooding events, including the delivery of sandbags (usually to residents' properties). The service shall be available 24 hours on every day of the year.
