Summary of the work DWP is delivering modern data and analytics products that are driving innovation within the wider department. The UC programme has a massive amount of structured and unstructured data that is the foundation for a data driven approach and the UC data team sit at the heart of delivering that vision. Specialist role Business analyst Expected Contract Length 2 year contract - initial 4 month Statement of Work Latest start date Monday 26 June 2017 Maximum Day Rate £640 Who Speclialist Work With Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team with responsibility to provide data to operational sites and colleagues to allow them to track, understand and improve operational performance. Types of roles that are included in this team are Full Stack Web Developers, Data Engineers, Java Software Engineers, UX designers, Data Scientists, Data Analysts, BI reporting Analysts. What Specialists Work On Own the product roadmap for innovative data and analytics products. Create and maintain backlog using JIRA. Write and elaborate user stories and acceptance criteria. Ensure quality of products and manage releases. Maintain release documentation on Confluence. Present at show and tells and at wider stakeholder meetings. Query and investigate data models using SQL and advise users on best practice and how the data schema is constructe. Create data models using Oracle Data Modeller. Mentor and train junior analysts in wider department on writing SQL and on data visualisation best practice. Skills & Experience • An Agile Evangelist with product owner experience • Proven track record of delivering quality products using scrum or kanban frameworks • Experience of business analysis techniques such as user story generation and elaboration. Proactive and independent development of user requirements. • Good knowledge of SQL and R • Experience of Business Intelligence and Data Visualisation. Experience of using the following products for data visualisation - R, shiny, business objects, excel • Experience as a JIRA administrator • Awareness of advanced analytics and machine learning and appropriate application in a Government organisation • Ability to work with Software and Data Engineers as well as non technical stakeholders • Experience working with DWP or similar organisation in the last 3 years. Work Location Caxton House, Tothill St, London Working Arrangments 5 days a week on-site working as part of a multi-disciplinary agile delivery team with work being specified by a work management system (JIRA). You will attend daily Town Halls, Stand-ups and relevant Show & Tells to monitor/discuss progress.
