Tender description

In 2012, the University sought partners to establish a long term partnership to facilitate the development of circa 640 new bedrooms of student accommodation within the University of Essex Knowledge Gateway site ready for the start of the 2013/2014 academic year, together with the potential leasehold sale of an established residential development comprising 767 bedrooms (the ‘Development’). ULiving Consortium were identified as the successful tenderer, and subsequently entered into the contract to provide the required services with the University. ‘Meadows 2’ is the second phase of the Development and the University wishes to contract for the provision of up to 2 000 units of student residential accommodation in an on campus setting on a design, build, finance and operate basis. The accommodation may be provided in a number of different configurations (for example, houses, cluster flats etc.,). See section II.1.4) above. In respect of section II.1.7) (contract value) this is made up of 64 400 104 GBP in respect of total financing, and 40 763 637 GBP in respect of present value of net rents at 3.50 %.
