Summary of the work The Delivery Manager will help transition key services for protecting UK borders into live, and then move into continuous improvement. Specialist role Delivery manager Expected Contract Length 9 months Latest start date 01/06/2017 Who Speclialist Work With The team is multi-disciplinary, comprising user researcher(s), interaction designer(s), content designer(s), business analyst(s), developer(s), tester(s) and service manager(s). What Specialists Work On The specialist will take the Delivery Manager role for three projects related to protecting UK borders: • The Registered Traveller application (RT) • The Electronic Visa Waiver application (EVW) • The Global Entry pre-check application (GE) Skills & Experience • Skilled in Agile Delivery in line with GDS principles, standards, and processes. (7 points) • Skilled in managing interactions within multi-disciplinary Agile digital teams, as part of leading the team to deliver user-centric outcomes within challenging sprint cycles. (7 points) • Skilled in balancing the needs of: individual team members; the team; and the client organisation, when building multi-disciplinary Agile digital teams. (5 points) • Skilled in assessing, choosing and using the most appropriate tools and techniques for Agile project delivery, recognising GDS design principles and the client organisation's preferences or policies. (5 points) • Skilled in balancing the needs of team members, the team and the client organisation to achieve delivery milestones with improving effectiveness and efficiency. (5 points) • Skilled in presenting information to diverse stakeholders across the client organisation about a multi-disciplinary team's delivery of user-centric Agile projects, including response to stakeholder queries and challenges. (5 points) • Experience of working in user-centric Agile projects within the public sector. (5 points) Nice to Haves • Experience of delivering new web based customer facing applications with a caseworking element. (4 points) • Experience of running and improving live digital services. (4 points) • Experience of bringing user-centric Agile projects back on track. (4 points) • Experience of delivering within larger programme structures and governance, including reporting to Boards. (4 points) • Experience of undertaking the Delivery Manager role on projects within the GDS Service Assessment process. (4 points) Work Location London (including Croydon). Working Arrangments The Delivery Manager's focus must be on establishing a unified team. The specialist is free to determine what combination of on-site and remote working / mobile working is appropriate to achieve this. Expenses will be paid for travel outside the M25 only, subject to the same policies, procedures and rates as would apply for an equivalent civil servant. There is an HMRC status portal available to help determine the status but we do require you to post a response as to whether the role is ‘inside’ or ‘outside’. Also, most of the responsibilities mentioned were overlapping with that of a product manager? Is this role a mixture of Product manager (taking day-to-day decisions) & Delivery manager (Technical focus) ? The team does have a Product Manager who sets the direction/roadmap. The Delivery Manager will be expected to work collaboratively with the PM to ensure that the priority of work is understood and the appropriate work is committed to. 10.
