Elms Bank Specialist Arts College endeavours to be at the forefront of thinking and practice in special education and they aim to provide the highest standards of education and care for their very special young people. They offer a welcoming and supportive environment to parents, carers and their families. Their highly skilled staff look for every opportunity to celebrate the achievements of their young people. They will work in partnership with parents or guardians to ensure that their son or daughter is happy and settled at the school and able to take part in all that they have to offer. The College provides education for some 190 students in the 11 to 19 age group, 30 of whom are in the 6th Form. There are also 135 teaching and support staff. The College operates a complete locked in policy for all students. A number of the students have disabilities or handicaps, consequently there is a high ratio of school staff to students. The catering team also have a very caring attitude when serving the students. The academic day commences at 8:00 and finishes at 15:15 and the catering team only provide a service at lunch time. There is however, a breakfast club run by two school staff and small morning break tuck shop service which is arranged by one of the College staff. — 8:15 to 8:45 Breakfast Club (50 pence per day) run by 2 college staff — 11:05 to 11:20 Morning Break — 12:15 to 12:45 Lunch first sitting — 12:45 to 13:15 Lunch second sitting.
