Summary of the work An opportunity to advise & influence, as a senior Technical Architect, the work of MoJ Digital & Technology during a time of change and transformation. From hands-on technical leadership in development, operation and improvement of services to identifying technical options and informing architectural approaches. Specialist role Technical Architect Expected Contract Length up to 24 months. Initial Statement of work for 6 months. Latest start date 02/05/2017 Maximum Day Rate Up to £850 per day (excluding VAT) and including Expenses Who Speclialist Work With Working across the MoJ Digital & Technology team which includes Technical Architects, Developers, Project Managers, End Users and others. The team is a mix of Civil Servants, Interims and Suppliers What Specialists Work On The work will include - Service mapping of the MoJ, identifying opportunities for service improvement - Hands-on technical leadership in development, operation and improvement of services -Work with product managers to understand user needs for new/existing services - Technical authority in prospective meetings with other departments, evaluate technical proposals from suppliers, implementation recommendations to stakeholders - Work with delivery teams breaking technical requirements down, identify API requirements for integration with internal/external systems - Lead development of user-driven prototypes, identify technical options/inform architectural approaches, working with team members to write tests, code and documentation for new/existing systems Skills & Experience • Comprehensive and recent experience designing and implementing complex software systems, ie is an active software developer currently engaged in architecting and building high-volume digital services • Proven capability in managing technology implementation projects and in presenting to/working with stakeholders at every level of seniority • Comprehensive and recent experience designing and implementing complex software systems, i.e. is an active software developer currently engaged in architecting and building high-volume digital services • Proven capability in managing technology implementation projects and in presenting to / working with stakeholders at every level of seniority • Demonstrable track record of successfully taking an evolutionary architecture approach to software architecture • Knowledge of Agile product management, in particular determination of vision, objectives, goals and success criteria • Experience in building and running change, release and incident models to support digital and legacy services. • Experience of leading multi-discipline, multi-vendor teams as part of agile and waterfall delivery. Nice to Haves • Experience of developing product roadmaps, backlogs and measurable success criteria, and of writing user stories, i.e. can establish a path to delivery for breaking down stories • Experience organising and performing prototyping and proof of concepts • Experience with Agile methodologies (TDD, SCRUM, Kanban, etc) • Building and scaling high-traffic websites and/or high volume transaction processing and analysis platforms • Experience of developing product roadmaps, backlogs and measurable success criteria, and of writing user stories, ie can establish a path to delivery for breaking down stories • Experience of leading transformation initiatives to help existing areas of the organisation adopt new software development techniques and agile working practices. Work Location MoJ HQ, 102 Petty France, London SW1 Working Arrangments The person will work directly to the head of Architecture & Security in Digital & Technology but will also work with various team members, end users and suppliers. If so, could you let me know, via a supplier question on DOS. If we can change the date, I will publish the new start date via DOS. 7. What technology do they need them to work with? Or is it varied? The technology is varied and covers all types of technology either currently deployed and potentially deployed across the MoJ estate. 8. Could you please clarify whether you are looking for a Coder? (An application developer/Applications Architect?) No. We are looking for a Senior Technical Architect. 9. You state the rate is £850 including expenses - what expenses are likely to be incurred and to what frequency? The maximum rate is £850 per day - we will consider rates below this. I can't give a definitive list of expenses as these will vary between applicants. This can be discussed at the interview stage. 10. Is there any scope for remote working? Yes there is scope for remote working. This can be discussed further at the interview stage. 11. Which internal / external systems will they need to be familiar with? Familiarity with specific MOJ internal or external systems is not a requirement 12. I am a Senior Technical "Security" Architect and when reading the "Essential skills and experience" you are looking for a " active software developer" which I am not.Can you tell me if the role would suit a Senior Technical "Security" Architect as well as a Senior Technical "Software" Architect? I can confirm that the software developer skill and experience is essential for the role.However, I can't comment on whether or not you should apply for this role.
